Heidi's Femur Surgery

Organized by Lindy Muse

Still waiting for surgery...
Hi guys sorry I haven't posted much lately... school has been hectic! Heidi is doing well and still waiting to have her surgery. She has been an absolute angel and we love having her around. All donations are still welcome and very much appreciated.

Heidi is going to be accepted to Cajun Paws Rescue. A new rescue started by one of my good friends. They will specialize in Pit bull rescue, a much needed service in this part of the country. Pit bulls are not safe at the local pound and many rescues are wary about taking them for insurance reasons. Please look up Cajun Paws rescue on facebook and support us!
No more kennel cough!
Heidi is finished with her kennel cough and is feeling great! She is out of the bathroom and running and playing with the rest of the pack. I have scheduled her surgery and it will be done April 8th. Donations are still needed and appreciated! Again thanks so much to everyone that has helped out!
A few pictures from today...
Heidi is in quarantine in my bathroom right now until her kennel cough clears up. She is feeling good and hasn't coughed once since she went to the vet. She is ready to feel better and get out of there!
Update on Heidi
Heidi has just been diagnosed with bacterial kennel cough. It usually clears up within 10 days but it is highly contagious so she has to be separated from the other dogs. I'm hoping that she feels better soon and we can start getting her vaccinated and on the way to recovery. We are almost halfway to our goal and it has only been two days. Thanks so much to everyone who donated and we will be sending you guys a special thank you note as soon as we get Ms. Heidi feeling better!

Heidi's story
Heidi is a 9 month old pit bull puppy that was rescued from death row from a local shelter in Crowley, LA. She was to be put to sleep the next day but a volunteer from a rescue organization could not leave her to be euthanized. She had such a sweet disposition and was so loving that there was no way she was getting left behind.

As soon as Heidi arrived at her foster home it became apparent that there was something wrong with her left back leg. She was able to put weight on it but it was stiff and the muscles had atrophied pretty badly. She was brought to the vet the very next day for X-rays and it was apparent that he leg had been badly broken. She was picked up as a stray so it is likely that she was hit by a car sometime in the past and was left to limp around in pain. The veterinarian said that it would be possible to save the leg with a simple surgery and she should regain full use of it.

In order for Heidi to become a candidate for adoption, she must have this surgery. Since she has been taken by a team of independent rescuers we need your help to be able to pay for her surgery. Heidi needs all the help she can get and your money will go directly to help her. Please give whatever you can and help this little baby out!
